Railway Station in Janakpur

Janakpur is one of the historical and religious cities of Nepal.

 The city is some 123km to the south-east of Kathmandu
 in the Terai Region some 20km from the border with India.

There is a substantial tourism industry
due to its significance in the Hindu religion
 and the Janakpur Railway - the only one in Nepal.

Janaki Mandir is a Hindu Temple dedicated to goddess Sita.

It is an example of 'Hindu-Rajput' architecture

and is considered the most important example

of this style in Nepal.
